Nagaland: Chakhabama-Zunheboto road imbroglio resolved
Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): The Thenyizumi village council has accepted the ‘unconditional apology’ offered by Shivalaya Construction Pvt. Ltd., on September 24 in the best interest of the smooth execution of Chakhabama-Zunheboto two-lane road construction works.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the council informed that the villagers have decided “not to escalate any obstructive actions in retaliation of the intentional allegations” levelled against the village by the construction company with regard to the suspension of their works.
It reasoned that such retaliation could have adverse effect in the two-lane works as the company has based its camp within the village’s jurisdiction.
“However, their reckless actions have badly defamed the prestige of the village for it has left a indelible scar in our mindset; therefore hereafter, they are warned to be cautious of their words and actions as in the future the villagers will not tolerate any unwarranted actions in such an event,” it stated.
The council also questioned the integrity of one of the local newspapers that had published the allegation by the construction firm “without any authentication of the report or consulting the other party” over such a sensitive issue. in this regard, the council has sought an apology from the newspaper.
