Centre constitutes committee to study ENPO’s statehood demand

Central committee to visit eastern Nagaland

Dimapur, Dec. 12 (EMN): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has constituted a three-member committee to study the statehood demand of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), as assured by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the meeting with ENPO Talk Team in New Delhi on December 6.

A circular from ENPO updated that A.K. Mishra, Advisor, North East, MHA, will lead the committee, which also has Dr. Mandeep Singh Tull, Joint Director, Intelligence Bureau, and A.K. Dhyani, Director, North East Division, MHA, as members.

It went on to inform that the central committee will visit eastern Nagaland between December 16 and 18.

The ENPO office bearers will receive the committee members, who will arrive at the AR Helipad in Tuensang on Dec. 16, before the visitors hold a meeting with ENPO, Talk Team and memorandum signatories in the evening.

On Dec. 17, the committee is scheduled to have a series of meetings: with seven tribal bodies of the region; ENWO and ENSF; gaon boras, dobashi and senior citizens; and with DC, SP, and other state government officials, according to the circular.

The central team will then visit ITC, DAN Pangsha, on Dec. 18, before taking off for Kohima on the same day.

The ENPO went on to inform that its CEC will hold a meeting on the following day, Dec. 19 from 10 am onwards at CKS Hall, Tuensang.
