Central Zone defeat West Zone by 24 runs in Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy

DIMAPUR — Central Zone registered a convincing 24-run victory over West Zone in the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, on Wednesday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Central Zone posted a formidable 160 for six in the allotted 20 overs. Anushka Sharma anchored the innings with a match-winning 80 off 58 balls, while Mona remained unbeaten on 54 off 41 balls, guiding the team to a strong total.

For West Zone, AA Patil stood out with a remarkable bowling spell of 5 for 31—one of the best figures in the tournament so far.

Chasing 161 for victory, West Zone managed 136 for six, falling short despite contributions from TS Hasabnis (28 off 16), Simran (28 off 39), and PN Khemnar (25 not out off 15). Central Zone’s Vaishnavi Sharma impressed with the ball, claiming 3 for 31, effectively breaking the opposition’s momentum in the middle overs.

Anushka Sharma was adjudged Player of the Match for her commanding knock, which set up Central Zone’s second win of the tournament.

With the victory, Central Zone continued to assert their dominance in the ongoing Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy 2025 being held in Sovima.
