Central team visits NHAK to review Covid management

Dimapur, Dec. 14 (EMN): A central team from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (PH division) visited Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on Monday to assist the state Health department to review its public health measures and clinical management for Covid-19.

According to a DIPR update, the team included Sanjay Kumar, AS & FA, Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (nodal officer); Dr. S R Karmakar, Sr. Public Health, Kolkata and Dr. Mohd. Jamil, Assoc. Prof. Medicine, North Eastern Indira Gandhi Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (Neigrhims).
It stated that team reviewed ‘the overall Covid related activities in regard to containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, clinical management protocol for Covid-19 in the district.’

Managing director of NHAK, Dr. Thorsie Katiry gave a powerpoint presentation on status of Covid activities March 23 till date. It stated that NHAK has collected 24806 samples, which includes 17308 from BSL-3 and 7498 from TrueNat as on December 14.

“Out of 24806 samples collected, a total of 2759 were detected as positive cases while 21925 were negative cases and 122 are awaited. Positive cases admitted in NHAK were 339 where 263 were discharged, 21 deaths and 43 were shifted to Meriema Covid Care Centre (MCCC), other hospital and home isolation,” it informed.

It further informed that NHAK has three wards, including a transition ward, Covid-19 isolation ward and Covid-19 ICU.

Dr. Aseno, DSO Kohima informed that out of 3615 positive cases in the district, 778 were detected from Army/security forces, 489 returnees, 172 frontline workers, 130 homemakers, 398 students, 22 taxi drivers, 166 unemployed, 272 children, 7 pregnant mothers and 1181 working population/persons. It further stated that various Covid related activities were carried out at quarantine centres, checkgates and CMO mobile team in the district.
