Central team assess damages caused by natural calamities in Nagaland’s Kiphire, Noklak districts
Dimapur, Dec. 12 (EMN): An Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visited Kiphire and Noklak on Monday for damage assessment due to natural calamities in the two districts.
Led by Ravinesh Kumar, Financial Advisor, NDMA, the team also include Anil Kumar Singh, Under Secretary, Rural Housing division, Department of Rural Development; Ankit Umrao, Assistant Executive Engineer MORTH; and officials from Kohima.
The team held a joint meeting with the district heads of departments and various NGOs at DC’s Conference Hall in Kiphire and Noklak.
Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, T Wati Aier, while highlighting the activities of DDMA Kiphire, said that many houses were damaged and road connectivity in several villages affected by heavy windstorms and natural calamities in 2022.
The DDMA Kiphire along with the administration visited the affected areas and incentives were given to those affected villages, said an update from DIPR.
Aier informed that awareness and training programmes were held in various schools, public places, and offices so that people will be well prepared in times of earthquake and when buildings collapse.
Later, the Power department, and DEO Kiphire highlighted some of the grievances and problems it faces in times of landslides and heavy windstorms.
The Central team also visited the places affected by a landslide at Forest ward in Kiphire, it was informed.
Meanwhile, in Noklak, Deputy Commissioner K Mhathung Tsanglao briefed the IMCT on the overall situation of the district.
A presentation on the disaster situation of the district was presented by Tanghiu, District Project Associate, DDMA Noklak. The team also visited three major damage sites — Kiammong landslide, Punyaongan (Noklak) landslide, and High School sector “A” Noklak House damaged by a landslide.
