Kohima, Mar. 1 (EMN): When did you first start thinking about what you wanted to do with your life? We put off making career decisions or even thinking much about our careers for too long. Often we do not think about what we really want to do until what we are doing turns out not to be the answer.
The process of selection of appropriate course should begin with proper career counselling starting early from high school days, advices Petekhrienuo Sorhie, Project officer, Women’s Centre, NU, Kohima Campus, Meriema Nagaland, while talking about picking the right course in higher studies.
One should be able to recognise and tap into one’s passion or interest area and get oneself quipped accordingly early on, she says. Sorhie suggests that the “appropriate way would be to avail proper and professional career guidance since it is through their expertise that can guide you to pursue the right course most suitable to your future career path.”
In addition, in choosing a course, the future scope of that particular discipline should be taken into account, she adds.
She believes it is important to properly plan on your choice of educational institutions and it is crucial that one avoid complacency and keep oneself alert and be updated with the timelines and courses offered of your choice by different institutes.
“It is imperative to avoid being late; one is required to be responsible enough and to keep track of the websites and online portals of various institutes,” she advised.
