Dimapur, Dec. 14 (EMN): Northeast communities in Bengaluru organised a sit-in protest against the amended Citizenship Act (CAA) on December 14 from 11 am to 1 pm at Sri Puttanna Chetty town hall.

A press release from the Naga Students’ Union Bengluru (NSUB) stated the union along with its sub-units participated in the protest to show resentment over the CAA, which was passed in both the houses of the Parliament recently.

The union stated that its president Nuthipru Nienu also spoke on the occasion along with other leaders from different north eastern states. Nienu stated that CAA is an ethical predicament that challenges the complexities of the Northeast indigenous people adding the incursion of the migrants might result in tribal cultural dilution which poses a major ethical dilemma.

While opposing CAA, Nienu lamented that the bill was passed without considering the sentiments and plea of indigenous citizens of north-eastern states.
