Dimapur, March 15 (EMN): Canaan Hands of C-Edge College, in partnership with Life Ministry Learning Centre (LMLC), organised a two-day livelihood training programme on March 11 and 12.

Canaan Hands is a voluntary group of students and faculty, whose main motto is to work, sacrifice and gain self-reliance. It is an offshoot of Canaan Farmers’ Spirit, where the principles of work and work ethics are taught under the programme, an update from the college stated.

The objective of the two-day training was to enable the students understand and learn various approaches on livelihood promotion and to experience working with the soil and learn methods of organic farming.

During the two-day training, skills on organic farming methods (indigenous microorganism, rice husk charcoal, bokashi, water soluble calcium phosphate, and insect repellant bio pesticide), handmade soap making, basic first aid, and confectionery products such as biscuit making and pickle-making were taught to the students.

The training commenced with an introductory session where the resource persons namely Samuel and Alemla from LMLC spoke about the life skills and its importance in one’s life. They also highlighted the overall aim of the livelihood training programme, which is to obtain knowledge based on management skills through handmade and small skills on agro-based methods and healthy farming.
