C-Edge College hosts workshop on ‘Northeast Japan Caravan’

C-Edge College, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, New Delhi, conducted a two-day programme on ‘Northeast Japan Caravan’ at the college auditorium on February 3 and 4.

An update from the college informed that an eight-member team from Japan Foundation led by Aoi Ishimaru, director of Arts and Culture Exchange, and Taisei Toyomaru, director of Language, attended the two days event. It stated that the college’s president, Moa Aier, delivered the welcome address and acknowledged the team from Japan Foundation. He also highlighted the college’s relationship with Japan Foundation, New Delhi, with the perspective to help the younger generation in learning a new language purely on economic factors.

He mentioned about inculcating mother tongue among the younger generation, which the college has emphasised through its various programmes since the last five years. While maintaining that it is important to be rooted in one’s own language, he however stated that it is also equally important to learn a new language in this present time in order to achieve the next level of economic competitiveness in regard to international trade and commerce.

It stated that Aoi Ishimaru has highlighted the purpose and the objective of Japan Caravan and its link with the government of Japan that focuses on Japanese language and culture dissemination worldwide. She mentioned that the event has been successful in the Northeast with positive responses and further looked forward to more events in the future.

The two-day Japan Caravan featured the much demanded calligraphy workshop, where visitors were taught the artistic writing of the Japanese language. It also featured the Yukata workshop on the style of wearing the light cotton Japanese ‘Kimono,’ which was accepted with delight by everyone through vibrant photo shoots.

Besides, four Japanese anime films namely ‘Garden of Words,’ ‘Place promised in our early days,’ ‘Anime 5 centimeters per second,’ and ‘Children who chase lost voices’ were screened during the workshop. The event also featured voice acting based on the anime films and the mini game ‘Fukuwari.’

Report further stated that the two-day free workshop witnessed a positive turnout of visitors from different schools and colleges.
