The one-day programme was organised by IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) and sponsored by Kiremwati Chair and was attended by all the teaching faculty and staff, the college in an update informed.

The FSDP was designed to focus on the way forward for the college after 10 years continuous journey of quality education. The objective of the seminar was the exposition on three key areas, which were discussed in three sessions.

The first session chaired by Seema Debnath, associate professor of Management Studies, was a combined assembly of both teaching faculty and staff based on the sub- theme ‘How do we, C-Edge College, position itself in context of an ever changing world and its challenges?’

Principal, C-Edge College, Dr. Chubatola Aier, in her welcome address, acknowledged the resource persons for taking out their valuable time for the programme. She also thanked the IQAC team and all the participants for their constant efforts towards the programme.

President of the college, Moa Aier, in his keynote address dwelled on how people have been “brainwashed” by the developed countries.

Aier presented a comparative analysis between some of the leading countries like United States, China, Japan, Italy, etc. In his detailed researched-based power point presentation, he stressed on the main motive of understanding “how the USA has been playing with the minds of the people all over the world so that it can remain super power for as long as possible.”

He concluded the session by reminding about the mission and vision of the college and how the faculty and staff can strive to achieve the common goal of making the students capable to attend to their basic needs and not to be dependent on anyone.

In the second session held at Manen Hall, the staff were trained on the sub-theme “Management and preparation for NAAC” with N Elone, assistant professor and former IQAC coordinator of Immanuel College, Dimapur, as the resource person.

Elone highlighted on how the staff can play a role during assessment and accreditation process of NAAC and also shared some detailed pointers about interacting with peer team members.

The session moderated by Wawe-U, the college librarian, concluded with review of the documentation system maintained by the staff.

Simultaneously, the second session for the teaching faculty was held at the college conference room with Prof. Dr. Rama Mathew, ELT consultant and retired professor of Education from the University of Delhi, as the resource person.

The former lead mentor for ARMS (Action Research mentoring Scheme) and ELTRMS (ELT Research Mentoring Scheme), both British Council-funded schemes, held the technical session on the sub-theme ‘Quality in higher education: what and how?’

She presented and discussed on how a teacher can improve quality education and the various issues related with quantity in education.

Dr. Mathew was of the opinion that quality can be assessed based on evidence and by experts in the field. She stressed on the importance of self-introspection on the part of the teachers.

She also shared that the students can be made to share opinions in order to ascertain whether the learning process is developing them from an academic standpoint.

She encouraged the teaching faculty to be pleasant, collaborative and facilitative at all times. In order to build students’ confidence, she further suggested that teachers should spend more time with them outside the classroom, take their suggestions and ideas. Meyatemsu Longkumer, HoD English, was the moderator of the session.
