C-CERP commemorates Wildlife Week in Jalukie

Dimapur, Oct. 16 (EMN): Care-Centre for Environment and Rural Poor (C-CERP), in collaboration with the Forest, Environment and Climate Change, commemorated the Wildlife Week on October 7 at St. Xavier Higher Secondary School in Jalukie town under Peren district on the theme “Recovering key species for eco-system restoration.”

An update from the organisation stated that Alemla Aier from department of Land Resources, Peren, graced the programme by lighting a candle signifying to keep up the burning desire to act towards the recovery wildlife species for eco-system restoration.

On the occasion, speeches were delivered by Alemla Aier; Jongponglemba, ACF; Punseni Khing, range officer; and Rev. Fr. Mhasikholie Martin, vice principal of St. Xavier Higher Secondary School. The keynote address was delivered by Liangsi Niumai, C-CERP director.

Report stated that about 56 students from Classes 3 to 10 of different schools participated in drawing, painting and essay writing competitions. It added that certificates along with cash prize were given away to the winners of the competitions.

In the drawing for primary section comprising Classes 3 to 5, Ikesangna, Class 5 student of Barail Valley Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, secured the first position, while Gaikhiam Gangmei, Class 3 student of Chwang School, Samziuram, secured second position and Ipeusing, Class 4 student of St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, secured third position.

In painting competition for middle section comprising Classes 6 to 8, Yarmanen Longkumer, Class 8 student of Baptist High School, Jalukie, secured first position, while Isirai Kamlak, Class 8 student of St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, secured second position and Gaiku Panmei, Class 7 student of Chwang School, Samziuram, secured third position. In the essay writing competition for high school section comprising Classes 9 and 10, Sanbinliu Newmai, Class 9 student of Baptist Higher Secondary School, Jalukie B, secured first position, while Hemilule Hiekha, Class 10 students of St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, secured second position and Melody, Class 10 student of Barail Valley Higherr Secondary School, Jalukie, secured third position.
