Dimapur, Sep. 20 (EMN):
A music school called “Bridge Music Academy’, a branch of Bridge Music Academy, Delhi has been newly opened at SAS Complex in Purana Bazaar, Dimapur. The school is affiliated to International Rock School, London.

In a conversation with Eastern Mirror, proprietor of the music school Tangit shared that he started the music institute in Nagaland to impart training in quality music as he came across many students facing hardships while pursuing music in big cities.

‘Also most of us cannot afford to go to big cities to pursue quality music education. So, in collaboration with Bridge Music Academy Delhi, I initiated this music institute to impart international standard and quality music education at our doorstep with affordable fees’, he shared.

Tangit received his music education from Delhi School of Music and Rock School London, and since 2005 he has been teaching in different institutes and colleges like IIT Delhi, Bridge Music Academy Delhi. He has also been teaching music online to students from Japan, South Korea, UK and Dubai.

He shared that he wanted to start the music school in 2020 but due to the pandemic, it had to be halted.

Speaking about his objectives, he said that he aimed to promote the highest level of artistic integrity through composition, documentation and performance of music. He also aimed to enrich the students through concerts, workshops and provide opportunities and guidance to prepare for a professional life in music.

‘We provide offline and online for both theory and practical classes from beginners to advanced level twice a week. Our teachers are qualified and well experienced to impart quality education’, he stated.

Chief Executive of Bridge Academy, Ritesh Khokar, a senior musician who has been performing for more than 30 years, also shared with this newspaper that he has been running music institutes for 19 years and Bridge Music Academy was his current and second start up.

As an educator and business person, he has also served five years as the North India representative for ABRSM, four years with Trinity College London as academic consultant where he designed and delivered teachers training programmes. He has also been serving as the country manager and director for Rock School since 2018.

He shared that during his practice teaching in Delhi, he taught and performed numerous musicians from North East India, and “I know how gifted the musicians from Nagaland are and I also know the areas of development that I could see as a trend in my teaching experience.”

“Nagaland is like a goldmine of talent waiting to be discovered and presented to the world in perspective. I believe Bridge Music Academy can bridge the gap between this talent pool and the world,” he added.

He shared that Tangit proposed to lead the Bridge Music Academy in Dimapur and “I believe there could not have been a better person, time and opportunity to do so. And depending on the success of the Academy in Dimapur, I certainly look forward to opening more branches in other states of North East India soon”, he said.

Khokar further said that the academy was formed with a vision to spread quality music education across the culturally and geographically diverse country of India.

“Music education, along with all forms of education, needs to adapt and prepare our students to survive and succeed in this fast changing professional environment. We envision bringing this diverse set of knowledge and skills to our students through some international collaborations and tie-ups very soon.

“Be on a lookout for these new and exciting developments in the next few months. We have kept in mind the local economics while pricing our services in Nagaland, which are considerably cheaper to what we offer in Delhi and other cities. I do hope the audience of Nagaland will embrace and benefit from our initiative in Dimapur,” he added.
