Bible college mulls on tribal land resources

Land and land resources and their association with tribal communities and their social systems is currently the topic of discussions in a seminar being conducted by Clark Theological College in Mokokchung. The long seminar is to scheduled for two days and is themed “Significance of land and its resources vis-a-vis tribal identity.” The event is being held being held in Clark Theological College starting November 14.
According to the institution, the seminar was organized by the Clark Centre for Peace Research and Action “keeping in view the complex issues related to land and its resources” for the tribal today.
The topics of the seminar encompass tribal land resources and their use, gender perspectives on land, customary and modern laws on land, Biblical and theological perspectives on land, border land disputes, and modern land- related concerns such as migration and urbanization.
The resource persons for the seminar are Dr. Wati Longchar; Alemtemshi Jamir, Dr. Imkongmeren, TN Manen, Dr. Sangtemkala, Wati, Dr. Toshimenla, Dr. Akumla, and Dr. Rongsen. Representatives from different colleges and peace centres from the Northeast region are in attendance, the institution stated.
“The seminar hopes to broaden tribals’ understanding of land and enable tribals to positively engage in the sustenance of land and its resources considering its indispensability to the life and identity of the tribals,” the college said in a press release received here today.
