The Baptist Higher Secondary School, Mangkolemba begins its annual sports week from October 14.
The annual event was declared open by Imtiwapang Aier, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mangkolemba as a chief guest
Speaking on the occasion Aier enlightened the students about the various benefits one can enjoy through sports and also encouraged them on the importance of teamwork, temperament and recognizing the strength and weaknesses of the opponent. He also lamented the poor and inadequate infrastructures for games and sports in the state but urged upon the students to take heart from the likes of Dr. T. Ao, Chekrovolu Swuro and Jonathan Rongsen and persevere and strife to reach one’s goal. Earlier, the chief guest was led into the ground by the folk dancers. A special song was presented by Imdongienla and Sungjemmenla of class 9. The programme was attended by the school management committee members, the pastors and the deacon board members from the Mangkolemba Baptist Church and Dr. Akum Jamir, SMO.
The sports week which was kick started with the senior boys’ tug-of-war will end on October 17 with the annual feast.
