Bangalore police puts racist neighbour in spot for harassing NE women

Dimapur, May 11 (EMN): Six North-eastern women in Bangalore were subjected to what is reported to be racial profiling as a miscreant allegedly tried to defame them at their rented house in Anepalya, Bangalore.

According to sources, the girls work at a hospitality company. As the company refused to pay for their house rent, they had to shift to another place, updates stated.

Confirming the incident to Eastern Mirror, the president of the Naga Students’ Union of Bangalore (NSUB) Mughato Kiba said to have received a distress call at around 1 am on Monday from one of the women, calling for help.

Kiba said the six women had recently moved from their house.  He said there would have been no serious issue at all if not for a neighbour who called the police to the house where the six women are currently living.

However, he said that the police authorities reviewed the situation and, interestingly, scolded and punished the neighbour for trying to create an unwanted situation. The neighbour had allegedly even intruded into the girls’ room, took videos of them, and called them ‘coronavirus.’

‘There was no case of physical abuse or anything bad. But we’re not supposed to go inside someone’s room and start making defamatory videos,’ said Kiba while assuring that all of the six women from the Northeast are fine.

Stating that the matter was being solved, he said the Bangalore police have arrived at an agreement that the owner of the house, where the six girls are currently living at, cannot force them to leave in any manner.

In addition to that, the police have also assured that the girls will not only stay there now, but will stay for free till the lockdown is lifted. Further, they will get a safe passage to their respective places, updates informed.
