Awareness programme on violence against women and child held in Tuensang
Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): Tuensang district Sakhi-One Stop Centre and Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) organised a district-level painting, speech and essay competition in Tuensang on the theme “Violence against Women and Child” while commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi to create awareness among the student community.
Tonen Chang, district coordinator, PMMVY, spoke on “Violence against Women and Child” at the event, said an update made available to the media on Friday by DIPR. He spoke about discrimination and violence against women in the Naga society besides bringing to light Mahatma Gandhi’s role in Indian freedom struggle and his contribution towards uplift of women.
Tshelhiu Mekrisu, EAC Tuensang was the special guest and Chotsase Sangtam, DPO ICDS delivered the welcome address at the event which was attended by around 120 students from various schools.
The update informed that Tangsoi of Government Hr. Sec. School won the first prize in extempore speech competition, while Kushe Shiu from St. John Hr. Sec. School and Tenya of Government Hr. Sec. School were second and third prizes respectively.
In essay competition, Longvila of St. John Hr. Sec. School was declared winner, while Thronglila won second prize and Longkonglepla third. In painting, Donan Snagba of St. John Hr. Sec. School won the first prize, while Waellen Senti and Simon secured second and third places respectively.
