DIMAPUR — Suruhoto block of the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), in convergence with IFAD FOCUS, Zunheboto, conducted field day in Aichisaghemi village on April 13 with Sedivisie Liegise, BTM Tokiye block, as the resource person.               

An update from ATMA Zunheboto stated that step-by-step preparation for nursery seed bed along with specific spacing for Cole crops under protected structure was demonstrated on the plot. The resource person has stressed on the importance of site selection and informed that the area should be free from water logging and away from direct sunlight. 

He also briefed the farmers on the importance of land preparation, sowing, weed control and plant protection in order to yield better harvest.

Later, seeds of Cole crops were distributed to the farmers.

In a similar programme, ATMA Akuluto block also conducted a field day on April 13 at a pineapple farm school in Lumami village with Tsuktilemla Ao, BTM Akuluto block, as the resource person. He spoke on cultural practices in pineapple production.

It stated that garden rake and shovel were distributed to the participants after the programme.

Meanwhile, ATMA) Longleng block organised a ‘Kisan Gosthi’ on vaccination and feeds of piggery and poultry on April 11 in Yongshei village with Dr. Lily Ngullie , ACTO (Animal Science) KVK, as the resource person.

She emphasised on the importance of giving good and proper feeds to enhance the health of entire livestock. She informed that productivity of piggery and poultry depend on the quality as well as quantity of feed supplied to them.

She explained the different procedures and techniques of feeding adult male pigs, adult female pigs, piglets and the different forms of poultry feeds, feed additives and types of feeds.

She further stressed the importance of vaccination for both piggery and poultry. Besides, she discussed on different vaccines for swine fever and foot and mouth disease, the right age for vaccination, right dosage and the immunity the vaccine offers. Vaccines against various diseases for boiler, layer and local chickens were also discussed.

Altogether, 20 participants attended the programme.
