Assam Rifles try hand at Santa role for underprivileged children

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 19
For some of the less privileged children on Nagaland Santa came early, laden with gifts and love, bringing much needed joy into their lives.
The HQ 6 Sector Assam Rifles got to play Santa Clause by organizing Advent Christmas celebration today for children of some of the orphanage homes from Dimapur, Medzephima and Peren at its Headquarters at Kashiram, Dimapur.
The programme was held under the theme “Your Smile is our Smile” and inaugurated by Mrs Vidhika Dhiman, President of Assam Riffle Wife Welfare Association (ARWWA), HQ IGAR and wife of Brig. Brijesh Dhiman in presence of AR officials along with their wives and Jawans.Around 130-140 children from various Orphanage Homes had a gale time today and displayed their talents by presenting songs and dances. There was also games-Spoon & Lemon Race, Sack Race and ‘Jalebi Race- for various age- category.
All the children were presented with one blanket each and offered lunch. There was also a Christmas-cake cutting ceremony.
Children from Love Care Home, Ebenezer Home, Prodigal Home, Rson Star Children Home, Medzephima, Noah Ark Children Home, Medzephima and Christian Servanthood Orphanage, Peren were present in today’s celebration.
Also present on the occasion was Pikato Tuccu, District Child Protection Officer, Department of Social Welfare, who on behalf of the department thanked ‘Friends of the Hills’ their kind and warm gesture towards the children on this season of love and sharing.
“Yes everybody knows that children are the future of our tomorrow and still we fail to contribute our efforts in building our future however what our Assam Rifle friends have done today and shown us is an exemplary for all to see and learn as well because what you did was for a better cause and for humanity not for scope and achievement in your professional duty”, he added.
Earlier welcome song was presented by students of Unity College, Dimapur while the programme was chaired by Maj. Amit Kumar.
