Assam Rifles sensitises students on ill effects of drug abuse

DIMAPUR — Commemorating ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,’ Dimapur battalion of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (N) conducted a lecture-cum-interactive session for the students of Daeshin Academy in Diphuphar-B on Tuesday.
A defence release stated that the aim of the lecture was aimed at creating awareness among students about ill effects of drug abuse and various ways to prevent it. It stated that the lecture was focused on how drug addiction has become a serious problem which is affecting the future of youth.
Report stated that addiction of drug and its impact on psychological behaviour was also highlighted to deter the students from consuming drug. They were also cautioned against various types of drugs, which are available in market.
The event marked the beginning of series of lecture/rally that would be conducted for a week to celebrate ‘International Day against Drug Abuse.’
A total of 180 students along six teachers attended the programme.
It further added that the good gesture of Assam Rifles for creating awareness among students was appreciated by the school authority.
