Dimapur, Sep. 20 (EMN): Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles provided essential commodities to the elderly people at Old Age Home in Ngwalwa village under Peren district on September 20.
An update from the Assam Rifles stated that its personnel interacted with the elderly inmates of Old Age Home and distributed various essential commodities. The personnel interacted about various health issues and civic programmes. The inmates were also informed about the various health and hygiene precautions to be taken during frequent change of weathers and the ongoing COVID crisis.
A total of six elderly inmates were benefitted from the event.
In another programme, the same battalion visited the trainees at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) located at Jalukie town on September 20. It stated that the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with various NGOs and government organisations, has been providing skill development training for employment generation in the remote districts, which are devoid of self-employment opportunities.
Altogether, 35 rural youth are participating in the 10-day training programme in piggery.
On September 19, the same battalion organised an awareness lecture on career opportunities in armed forces for college students of St. Xavier College in Jalukie town.
During the lecture, students were briefed on various career opportunities provided in the Indian armed forces and also about the recently launched Agnipath scheme. They were educated on selection procedures, education qualification, age limit, physical standards, recruitment, training, financial benefits and various post service prospects.
A total of 75 students attended the lecture.
