Kohima, Jan. 30 (EMN):
An Assam Rifles’ ex-servicemen rally was conducted under the aegis of the Inspector General Assam Rifles, north, of Kohima on January 30. The inspector general of the Assam Rifles Major General PC Nair was the chief guest of the occasion.

In his address to the gathering, he acknowledged the presence of the Assam Rifles’ ex-servicemen who had travelled from a distance to attend the rally.

Nair said that the objective of the rally was to establish a single platform to address the grievances of the Assam Rifles’ former servicemen.

The IGAR maintained that the platform was to enable them to meet one another and seek feedback on measures that the Assam Rifles can take to take care of their welfare.

An official update informed that ‘the rally was in continuation and in keeping with similar rallies being conducted by Assam Rifles elsewhere in Nagaland.’

During the occasion, various stalls were set up representing the AR pay account office, Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen Association, Sainik School of Punglwa, stalls for banks, skill development, and Horticulture,  Agriculture, Kohima State Legal services, Aadhaar card, Pan Card, Canteen Stores Department and Field Post Offices.

A medical check-up camp was also established at the venue which had medical facilities including ENT, eye, gynaecology and dental services where many ex-servicemen and dependents benefitted from the facility that was provided during the programme.
