Dimapur, March 7 (EMN): The Yimpang Village Council has alleged that Assam police on Sunday damaged a farmhouse in its territory, exactly a month after the uniformed personnel burnt down a similar structure at the same location.

In a complaint letter to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bhandari, the village council stated that E Myingthungo Patton, whose farmhouse was burned down by some Assam police personnel on February 6, had once again constructed a hut at the same location as the case was left pending and justice not served.

Patton had last month filed an FIR at the Bhandari Police Station in Wokha against those who burned down his house, and had sought compensation for the property destroyed.

The village council said that the Assam police personnel numbering about 20 once again destroyed the newly constructed farmhouse on Monday at around 5 am.

“This is an act of unwanted aggression and an obvious vandalism on the part of Assam that undermines the territorial integrity of the state of Nagaland,” read the complaint.

Therefore, it requested the authorities to immediately intervene on the matter with all seriousness and punish the perpetrators according to the law.
