New Delhi, Sep. 10 (IANS): With an aim to provoke the viewer, 20 artists have come together to showcase their uniquely made works at an exhibition “Contrabanned: Provocations of our Time” here.

From painting, photography and sculpture to new media, sound and video installations, the exhibition, being organised at the Art Konsult gallery here, has it all.

Presented by Siddhartha Tagore, conceptualised by Engendered, Transnational Arts and Human Rights and curated by Myna Mukherjee, the show explores the power of visual provocations in the public environment.

“Art needs to speak to the times to be truly relevant in the contemporary. We at Art Konsult are proud to bring together these diverse and cutting-edge voices, from established, mid-career and the emerging artists,” Siddharth Tagore, Director, Art Konsult, told IANS.

Curator Myna Mukherjee said: “Exploring the power of visual provocations in the public environment, this showcase of multidisciplinary art pushes the boundaries of our relationship and intimacies to belief systems and political ecologies.”

“It questions contested terrains, where notions of the quotidian have been radicalised.”

The exhibition showcases works of artists like Chintan Upadhyay, Ahmer Khan, Mujtaba Syed, Veer Munshi, Jimmy Chishi, Anindita Bhattacharya, Gopa Trivedi, Baaran Ijlal, Aditi Angiras, Murari Jha, Balbir Krishan, Raghava K.K., Gargi Chandola, Yaman Navalakha, Valay Gada, Sharmila Samant, Puneet Kaushik, Samit Das, Sumantra Sengupta and Shashwat sound Collective.

The exhibition will continue till September 17.
