Kohima, Aug. 9 (EMN): An art exhibition — “A chain of Wisdom” – was put up at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA) in Jotsoma, Kohima, on Tuesday during the ‘Art Residency’ programme organised by the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) Nagaland and Art for Change Foundation, New Delhi.

The exhibition displayed various artworks of the seven visual artists from within and outside the state, who are part of the residency programme.

Speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha, stated that under the visionary leadership of the state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, various successful programmes have been undertaken for promoting and guiding the youth.

He also appreciated the ‘Art for Change Foundation’ for coming to Nagaland and exchanging their talents with the Naga artists and youth. He further lauded the TaFMA for organising the programme and encouraged them to take up new creative initiatives without any hesitation in the future as well.

Advisor of Technical Education and Education, Medo Yhokha, who also spoke on the occasion, supplemented Zale Neikha by stating that under Rio’s leadership, multiple initiatives are underway and that only time, space and a little patience are needed to understand it fully.

While drawing parallel between songs and arts to connect cultures, he encouraged the artists to be ambassadors of the Naga society.

Hovithal Sothu, TaFMA project director, chaired the event and also delivered the welcome address, while Tanya Garg, project manager of Art for Change Foundation, also spoke on the occasion.

Resident artists Sanjib Kalita and Nayungkhumla Chang shared their experiences during the ongoing Art Residency programme, while TaFMA artist Ajo Savi presented a song.

Following the event, the guest of honour along with other dignitaries inspected the exhibition put up on display.

It may be mentioned here that the ‘Art Residency’ programme began on August 1.
