AR undertakes civic action programmes

Dimapur, Jan. 25 (EMN): Phek Battalion of the Assam Rifles has conducted a lecture on HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse in Phek town on January 24.
The unit medical officer conducted the lecture on drug abuse and HIV/ AIDS. The aim of the lecture was to create awareness among the youth about the social evil and to save young generation from its ill effects and make Nagaland a drug free state. The lecture was attended by 29 NCC cadets from Phek town.
In a related programme, Kiphire Battalion of the Assam Rifles has donated a water supply scheme (borewell) in Pungro village under Kiphire district on January 24.
The aim of the project was to alleviate the water related issues of local populace in the remote area and provide a regular water supply for daily chores. The borewell was inaugurated and handed over to village council by Colonel V Tiwari in presence of village elders and other civil dignitaries.
In yet another programme, Kohima Battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a medical camp in Jotsoma village on January 23. The aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical treatment and medicines to local populace of remote areas who were devoid of medical facilities at their villages.
A specially constituted medical team under Captain G Sainath Ram, medical officer, examined the patients and also provided medicines free of cost to the patients.
