AR nabs one person with drugs, conducts other programmes

Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): Dimapur battalion of the Assam Rifles arrested one person along with contraband drugs from a general area of Burma Camp in Dimapur on January 15.

According to a defence release, the person was arrested in an operation based on specific intelligence inputs. The accused person has been identified as

Nilo Swu. The troops recovered 2700 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon, 400 tablets of Nitrosum and cash of INR one lakh from his possession.

The report further stated that the individual along with the seized items were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur, for further investigation.

AR pre recutiment training
Youth undergo pre-recruitment training conducted by the Assam Rifles in Phek.

In another programme, the Phek battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a pre-recruitment screening test at its headquarters on January 18. The aim of the programme was to select desirable candidates who would be given training for recruitment in Army/ Assam Rifles.

It stated a total of 27 individuals from Phek, Mokokchung, Dimapur and Pfutsero were screened out of which 21 individuals were found fit after initial documentation and medical check-up. It added that the screening test would continue for three days beginning from January 18 to the 20th.

Selected individuals would undergo training at Phek battalion for 45 days and further attend the recruitment rally at Rangapahar which is scheduled from March 10 to the 20th.

In yet another programme, Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles constructed a playground at the remote border village of Khongsa in Kiphire district.

A defence release stated that the Assam Rifles provided JCB and deputed technical staff to supervise during preparation of the ground basing on the request from the village council. It stated that the ground would be utilised for sports as well as community related activities.

It added that the GBs, council chairman, youth, and villagers of Khongsa village have thanked the Assam Rifles for constructing the playground in the village.
