AR apprehends two cadres in Arunachal
Dimapur, July 17 (EMN): In a major operation by Assam rifles, the Khonsa Battalion and Jairampur Battalion under the aegis of DAO division conducted operations in Wakka village, Tirap district and Jairampur town during the night of 16 July and apprehended one NSCN(K) cadre and one NSCN(R) over ground worker.
In a press note by Defence, Public Relation Officer (PRO) Col C Konwer stated ‘based on the specific intelligence about presence of cadres trying to terrorize and carryout extortion in Wakka village, the Khonsa Battalion swiftly launched an operation resulting in the apprehension of Self Styled Sergeant Tonpha Pansa of NSCN(K) with a pistol and live ammunition of various weapons.
Post spot interrogation he admitted allegiance to NSCN(K)’.
A similar operation was launched by the Jairampur Battalion based on the specific intelligence about presence of cadres trying to terrorize and carryout extortion in Jairampur town, Wangwa Hathum, over ground worker of NSCN(R) was apprehended at Jairampur town.
During the post spot interrogation the over ground worker admitted allegiance to NSCN(R), he further divulged that he has been an active member of the banned outfit for last three months and was involved in extortion activities from government employees and businessmen in Jairampur town, release stated.
