Mokokchung, Dec. 21 (EMN): Aongza Youth Fellowship represented by 66 children emerged champion of the XXXIV Children’s Christmas Cake Carol Competition held at the town square in Mokokchung town on December 20 evening.

Tongdentsuyong Youth Fellowship and Arkong Youth Fellowship were declared second and third winners respectively. A total of 814 children from 10 fellowships under Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo (MTBA) have participated in the competition.

Children Christmas Cake Coral Competition popularly known as ‘C5’ is organised by the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church (MTBA) youth department. This year’s edition was held on the theme “Christmas Gloria.”

Monglier Tzudir, MTBA associate youth pastor, stated that C5 initially started with an objective to dispel fear among the people especially during the time when Mokokchung was undergoing through a difficult phase in history due to frequent clashes between the Naga underground and India armed forces.

He informed that United Christian Fellowship–a fellowship of non-Ao speaking community under MTBA– joined the competition this year.

“Children between the age from 4 to 12 years have been preparing for months for this moment, therefore, we have prepared 340 pound of cakes for the children along with other gifts for bringing joy to the town,” he said.

Dr. L Botoholi Yeptho, women associate pastor of Sümi Baptist Church (B), Mokokchung, during a brief exhortation, stated that all the towns in Nagaland should conduct the children Christmas cake carol competition. She lauded the initiative of MTBA youth department in bringing unity among the people of the town.

Dwelling on the theme, Dr. Yeptho, stated that it was the manifesting of God’s glory in public.

The programme also witnessed medley of classic Christmas songs by MTBA worship team. The competition was judged by Yartenba, music director of Kumlong Baptist Arogo; Salangnok, choir master of Aolichen Fellowship at Ungma Baptist Arogo; and Lima Lemtur, lecturer at Nagaland Bible College.
