Dimapur, Feb. 15: Anglers Association Nagaland (ANN) has announced to organise “Tizu Angling Festival” on March 2 and 3 at Tizu River in association with the district administration, Pungro and Moya village councils.
The objective of this event is to promote angling as a sport and at the same time explore the rich potentials these areas have to offer for eco-tourism. The two-day event will also include workshops to educate about the indigenous fish, rivers, conservation and most importantly to spread the message against the rampant use of dynamites, chemicals and other unethical ways of fishing that are destroying our rivers, lakes and other water bodies.
The main highlights, according to its general secretary Ricky Ozukum, the festival would be workshop, camping, bonfire, foods stalls, trekking, games, music and angling competitions. He announced that cash awards of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 will be given away to the best three winners respectively. Certificates and angling gifts would also be given to all the participants. The Association has set Rs 500 as registration.Apart from affiliated districts, renowned anglers from the country have confirmed to participate in the festival. Tents on hire would be given only to outside state participants.
