Dimapur, Feb. 15: The Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC) has appealed to the agitating community organisations protesting against the state government over the municipal and town council elections, to relax the ongoing bandh in the interest of the public.
The organisation issued a press release on Wednesday informing to have convened a meeting on February 15 at the Mission Centre in Kohima town. It has expressed pain and regret over the “unfortunate development in the recent past.”
“It vehemently denounces the killings, violence and arson which are contrary to Christian values. ABCC fervently appeals the NTAC, JCC and other frontal organizations to relax the bandh in the interest of the public,” the press release stated.
“It also fervently appeals the government to be sensitive to the peoples’ voice and take measures to defuse the situation at the earliest. ABCC’s prayer is that both civil societies and government, while carrying out their responsibilities, should stick to the principle of love and truth.”
The ABCC has requested churches to pray for God’s intervention and healing for the state on February 17 from 6:00 am to 12 noon.
