All facilities should be provided in Nagaland schools, says Governor

Dimapur, Feb. 11 (EMN): Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Thursday underlined the need for enhancing infrastructure of educational institutions in the state for imparting quality education.

The governor, who was in Kiphire on a two-day tour of the district, expressed his love for unique Naga traditions and lauded the people of Kiphire village for preserving their tradition and culture, informed an update from DIPR.

Addressing the gathering during his visit to Kiphire village on Thursday, he encouraged the people to introduce indigenous language at primary schools to preserve and promote their culture.

While lamenting that a lot of shortcomings were found during his visits to educational institutions, he assured to “pursue the needs of Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire to the government”.

He pointed out during his visit to Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) that students from the state are studying in different parts of the country ‘in search of good institutions’. He added that “all facilities and infrastructure should be provided within Nagaland” for quality education.

He assured to seriously pursue the demand to introduce Science stream at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), stated the update.

The governor went on to inform that the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) school building construction will be completed by March or April in 2023 and students from villages can study in the institution which will offer courses in Science, Commerce and Arts streams.

The DIPR update informed that Mukhi also interacted with the Kiphire village leaders, teachers and students, as well as “JNV construction engineers, contractor and other officials”.
