Adolescent girls get updates on anaemia and health

An anemia awareness seminar for adolescent girls was held at the town hall in Medziphema town on August 29.

 

Dimapur, Aug. 31 (EMN): A seminar about anaemia for adolescent girls was conducted on August 29 in the town hall of Medziphema town in Dimapur district.

Dr. Michelle of the primary health centre of Molvom was the resource person of the seminar. Approximately 150 students from different schools in Medziphema subdivision attended the programme, updates stated.

The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), issued to the media on Saturday updates about the programme.

Dr. Michelle (no surname given in the IPR report), spoke about various issues that adolescent girls face in their life. The medical officer talked about the various types of anaemia an adolescent girl can suffer from and the ways to prevent it.

After the seminar, an ‘anaemia detection camp’ was conducted for the participants with assistance from medical doctors and staff of the community health center at Medziphema.

Out of the 150 girls, 27 girls were found to be anaemic, the IPR stated. ‘Adequate treatment’ and medicines were given to the students, it was informed.

The departments that are participating in the convergence programme of the Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan include the district administration, Social Welfare, PHED, School Education, Health and Family Welfare and the IPR, the update stated.
