Mokokchung, May 10 (EMN): In what would be an emotional moment; an occasion that brings back past memories and good old days with friend and teachers, Additional Director of Higher Education Dr Watijungshi paid a visit to his first school — GMS Pongentula at Aongza ward in Mokokchung – after more than five decades on May 10.

Watijungshi said that he was visiting his first school after 55 years. Describing GMS Pongentula, which was established in 1952, as the institution that gave him a solid foundation to achieve higher positions in his career, he said it has produced many technocrats, doctors, engineers etc. who are currently serving the society in various capacities.

He called upon the alumnus of the schools, teachers and the community to render tireless support and co-operation to ensure that the school excels in academia. He also encouraged the students to become successful persons, stating that GMS Pongentola is a God-blessed School. “Whoever believes in God will achieve success because your creator will not fail you; fear God and be humble,” he said.

She said that government schools in the state have improved drastically after communitisation was introduced in 2002 and attributed it to the involvement of the community. She also asserted that centrally-sponsored schemes and programmes are been successfully implemented because of co-operation from the community and government.

While stating teachers are the backbone and builders of the nation, Sademmongla asked (teachers) what kind of quality education they (teachers) could provide to the students in this fast-changing world. In this connection, she asserted that to instil the students with better education, they need to create tension- free and stress-free environment for the students before they start their lessons. She added that to create such an environment, ‘it should start with love and care.’

To the students, she said they can achieve their ambitions only if they obey God, teachers, and parents.
