Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): Aboi District Demand Committee (ADDC) has expressed dismay at the state government for non-declaration of Aboi district headquarters during the recent declaration of district headquarters namely Tseminyu, Chümoukedima and Nuiland in December last.

A press release issued by its media cell resented the attitude of the government in turning a deaf ear to the hue and cry of the public despite Aboi sub-division fulfilling the criteria for a creation of a new district. It also stated that the public under the banner of ADDC would not sit quietly but raise their voice until the government declared Aboi into a full-fledged district. It also cautioned that the government would be held sole responsible in the event of ADDC resorting to undemocratic approaches.

ADDC also pointed out that the demand for Aboi and Noklak headquarters were placed during the Cabinet Memo 2011 thereby becoming one of the oldest sub-divisions to demand for its own district. In this regard, ADDC has questioned the government on what grounds the district demand for Aboi headquarters was turned down even after submitting the complete profile and feasibility for the creation of Aboi headquarters for a decade.

“Even if the government takes tribe into consideration for non declaration of Aboi district under Mon then what about the recent new creation of districts in the state,” ADDC queried.

Meanwhile, ADDC has informed the Konyak Union Aboi Unit, Longching Unit, KNSK Aboi and Longchang Unit, Aboi Area Students’ Union (AASU), Chen Area Students’ Union (CASU), Longchang Area Students’ Union (LASU), Aboi Town Students’ Union (ATSU), MLA from four constituencies, president of 13 unions of Aboi town, village councils and GBs under ADDC, all political leaders and all NGO leaders to attend a meeting on January 15 at Aboi town local ground at 10 am.
