ACVAW threatens road blockade

Wokha, August 3 (EMN): In protest against bad road condition particularly between Wokha-Merapani, the All Commercial Vehicles’ Association Wokha (ACVAW) has decided to restrict movement of all the commercial vehicles beginning from August 5 within its jurisdiction.
The decision to this effect was taken in an emergency meeting of All Commercial Vehicle Association Wokha (ACVAW) on August 3. The meet was called to discuss on the deplorable road condition between Wokha-Merapani.
The Association expressed displeasure that no work was executed despite fund being released allegedly to CS Infra Pvt. Ltd. since the past three months. In this regard, the Association has decided to restrict movement of all goods carrier vehicles from August 5 until the concerned contractor begins the works.
However, it informed that passenger vehicles will exempt from the purview of the restriction.
The Association highlighted that Wokha-Merapani road accounted 90% in the transportation of goods in the district.
The Association expressed dismay that many commercial vehicles have met accidents due to the poor road condition in the recent past. Expressing concern on the plight of the people in the district, the Association urged uponed the concerned contractor to carry the works at the earliest. The Association further urged all public to cooperate with the inconveniences during the blockade.
