DIMAPUR  — The uprooting of trees, which were felled more than seven months ago following an unfortunate incident, along the Nagarjan Police Point-Walford Petrol Pump Junction stretch at the Naga Shopping Arcade (Supermarket) area in Dimapur began on Monday.

The first phase of the beautification project on the stretch of the road that was once covered by more than 400 trees is expected to continue till June 3.

The Planning and Transformation Department under Innovative programme, project supervisor informed that an Acupressure Stone Park will be established at Supermarket and it is going to be one of the first of its kind in the Northeast region.

The now open space will pave the way for the construction of the Acupressure Stone Park, which will provide the people with an innovative space for holistic well-being and appreciation of nature.

The primary objective of the project is to promote traditional healing practices by providing health benefits through walking barefoot on pebble stones, the project supervisor said, adding that the park will also offer relaxation areas with stone benches for visitors to engage in meditation, while prioritizing preservation of the environment and nature.

He said that there are plans to introduce several new designs and features for the park, which will be updated in the near future and it is expected to be completed within four month.

He went on to inform that individuals interested in purchasing the tree roots for handicrafts or personal use can buy it at a reasonable price by contact phone No. 7022471879.

The proceeds from the sale of the tree roots will go towards the establishment of the proposed park, it was informed.
