Dimapur, May 11 (EMN): The governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has expressed appreciation for the work of the nursing services. He said ‘sufficient, adequately trained and motivated’ nurses are essential to the health of the society.
Acharya’s establishment issued a message to nurses as the health service community observes International Nurses Day. The governor said to value the service and determination of nurses working in the public and private sector of the state.

International Nurses Day is observed around the world on May 12 to mark the contribution of nurses to society. May 12 is also the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

‘…Serving humanity is one of the great commitments and nurses are in the forefront in the society,’ Governor Acharya stated. ‘Nurses are the backbone of the health care system, the people throughout the world should acknowledge their services and called for public awareness to strengthen the health care system.’

Sufficient, adequately trained and motivated nurses are essential for the health of the population, he said. He encouraged nurses to give their best every day to save lives and to take care of their patients. ‘Care of sick is the religion of the nurses,’ he said.

The governor also urged the citizens of Nagaland to recognise all nurses for the dedicated work they do every day to achieve good health and life for everyone, the message added.
