DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29

ACAUT issued a press release bordering on a vindication of sorts with a ‘clean chit’ to its secretary Solomon L Awomi who was absolved of any ‘misdoings’ by an Inquiry Committee set up by the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner. This comes after corruption charges were leveled against him in his capacity as President of East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA) by the Purana Bazaar Village Council.
In a release ACAUT said, the movement against corruption and unabated taxation cannot be derailed by vested persons/organisations leveling unfounded and baseless charges.
“It is the will of the Naga people that there should be structural changes in the state for the common good and no amount of baseless accusations can deny Naga people’s march towards this goal as Purana Bazaar Village Council (PBVC) willed otherwise so’.
The release added the public admonition of the Purana Bazaar Village Council and its chairman by the district administration of Dimapur to the extent of ordering the Chairman and council to tender a public apology to Solomon L. Awomi for propagating false and malicious accusation against him, has come at a cost of embarrassing the ‘innocent public’ of Purana Bazaar. ACAUT stated the order for its VDB Secretary to step down is an indicator that baseless allegations by any individuals or organisations will in the long run stand exposed.
What now remains to be seen is if the Chairman PBVC and PBVC members are prepared to step down from office owing moral responsibility after what ACAUT stated as ‘damning verdict given by the inquiry committee report where it stated that the PBVC “have overstepped its powers in a number of situations and has shown disrespect to the government and has repeatedly ignored the directives of the district administration”. ACAUT stated its secretary Solomon Awomi stepped down from his position pending inquiry from DC, Dimapur, and re-instated again in the light of clean-chit given by the inquiry committee. If there is any iota of self-respect in the PBVC, the members should resign en-masse, the press release added.
