Dimapur, Aug. 3 (EMN): A book titled ‘A brief history of the Eastern Sümi of Kiphire district and Shamator district,’ written by Dr. A Husca Ayemi and Tovikali Yepthomi, was released on July 30 at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur.

Eastern Sümi Hoho (ESH), in an update, informed that the book was released by president of Sumi Hoho, Nikheto Zhimomi, in the presence of ESH executive members and invitees.

The authors of the book, who are both assistant professors (department of History) at Japfü Christian College, Kigwema, shared their experiences on how the first Covid -19 lockdown in 2020 gave them an opportunity to work on the book.

The authors expressed gratitude to the ESH officials for their cooperation and support throughout the writing of the book and also thanked all the village elders for providing the required information.

It further stated that the ESH felt the need to keep on record a brief history of Eastern Sümis because of the fact that many Sümis are unaware that Sümi Nagas co- exist with the Sangtam and Yimkhiung tribes.

“Therefore, this small volume of Eastern Sümi history will enlighten the readers about their village migration routes, heroic valour, contributions in the district-making and struggles as well,” it added.
