DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles organised “A day with the company commander” at Tizit for students and teachers from the Government High School to foster a strong connection between the armed forces and the youth of the region.

An update stated that the event saw participation from 110 students and eight teachers from the Government High School, Tizit. It began with a motivational lecture, followed by a variety of activities designed to promote teamwork and cultural expression.

These included tug-of-war, singing and cultural dance performances, volleyball, badminton, career counselling, and other fun-filled events.

Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles provided medical and financial aid to an elderly woman in Chenmoho village who suffered a life-threatening fall from a hill.

It said that upon learning about the incident, a quick reaction team (QRT) from the Assam Rifles, accompanied by medical personnel, promptly reached the location. The team administered immediate first aid to stabilise the injured woman.

Recognising the family’s distress and inability to afford further treatment, the Assam Rifles went beyond their call of duty by extending financial aid to ensure she could receive adequate medical care.

The troops also arranged for her safe evacuation to the district hospital in Mon.

Further, the Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match for local youth at Ngam Village, themed “Healthy mind resides in a healthy body,” in which nine players from neighbouring villages participated.

The initiative aimed to encourage young people to adopt an active lifestyle while identifying local talent that could inspire future careers in the Indian Army and Assam Rifles.

In addition to the match, the Assam Rifles provided sports equipment to local youth organisations.
