DIMAPUR — Advisor for Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer on Thursday said that there is an urgent need for quality and affordable healthcare across communities in Nagaland.

Addressing a programme after inaugurating the new building of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dimapur at Medical colony, the advisor said that many citizens struggle to access basic medical services and frequently face the challenge of high treatment costs.

According to Longkumer, the new building stands as a testament towards improving the health and well-being of the people, ensuring that every citizen has access to coordinated, effective, and compassionate care.

He also said that Dimapur has long been a hub for healthcare services in Nagaland as people from every corner of the state come seeking medical attention, often travelling long distances to access quality care.

This underscores the need for robust administrative support to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and equitably, he said.

The advisor expressed optimism that the new CMO building will serve as a central pillar to support critical decisions that are being made, health programmes that are being planned and management of resources, all with the aim of providing the best possible care to “our communities.”

Mentioning that lack of quality and affordable medical services has left a significant number of people vulnerable, he asserted that it is the responsibility of the state to create a healthcare environment that prioritises both quality and affordability.

Longkumer further said that by strengthening the administrative backbone at the CMO building, it will ensure that healthcare reaches those who need it most, essential treatments are accessible and that no one is left without the care they deserve due to financial constraints.

“With this new facility, we can respond more effectively to health crises, improve preventive care, and reach even the most remote areas of our district and state,” he added.

Dr. Limatula Aier updated that the building has about 39 rooms, including office and store rooms. She shared that the office construction started in 2022.
