DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) is all set to explore ways and means to reach out to areas within the state and beyond where wrestling is not commonly played, to promote both Naga, national and international styles of wrestling.
Towards this, the association plans to organise coaching and training camps and competitions as well.
This was adopted during the NWA first general assembly for the tenure 2024-2028 held at the association’s office, Kohima on July 20, NWA stated in an update.
The general assembly also endorsed the executive office bearers (EOB) to streamline the requirements and carry forward plans and strategies for further proceeding and implementation.
The technical aspects and provisions of the Naga style of wrestling will be reviewed by a committee to be headed by the NWA technical secretary along with the representatives from the affiliated units and NWA central office.
The house also tasked the committee to come up with refined and viable provisions viz; proper usage of tactics, techniques, rules and regulations etc. The house endorsed the EOB to constitute the committee at an early date.
The house further resolved to give due importance to other national and international styles of wrestling including free style and belt wrestling, in the larger interest of the upcoming young.
NWA president Vivolie Kezo highlighted several provisions contained in the association’s constitution and urged upon all the members to be well versed with the constitution and to abide by the same accordingly.
