SCHE students undertake ‘Bread for the hungry’ initiative
DIMAPUR — The students of Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) on March 9 went out to share their lunch with the sick, suffering and the needy of Dimapur city.
The students went department-wise to different vicinities of Dimapur including the District Hospital, Railway Station, Naga Shopping Arcade, New Market, Hongkong Market, Clock Tower and Flyover areas, an update stated.
‘Bread for the hungry’ is an “initiative of and best practice of Salesian College of Higher Education, where every student of the college volunteers to love, to share and to give,” it stated.
“The objective of the initiative is to conscientise every student to learn to be generous and to share. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, ‘the world has enough for everyone’s need, but not for everyone’s greed.’ The students give not from their abundance, but from the sacrifice they make of one meal or a day’s wage,” it stated.
