DIMAPUR — The NSCN (IM) has cautioned the non- locals engaging in different types of trade in Dimapur to desist from using the name of locals in their respective trade licence.

The office of the Union Territory, NSCN (IM), in a press release, said this has been necessitated due to complaints received from the general public and cases reported to its office.

The complaints include illegal activities such as adulteration, price manipulation, duplication of goods and immoral activities in hotels and lodges been carried out using the name of locals, while the actual business is run by non-locals, to earn extra profit at the cost of the locals and general public, it said.

While affirming that the NSCN (IM) will support all legal business, it cautioned that, henceforth, using the name of locals to run illegal businesses will not be tolerated.

The group also informed all the owners of night clubs and restaurant in Dimapur to close before 10:30 pm, citing cases of girls being caught late at night in inebriated state, “engaging in immoral activities” with married businessmen “luring them with money and alcohol”.

“While we, as a Naga society, strongly advocate the dignity and honour of women in our society, young girls are seen selling their pride for some few cash and alcohol, which is very disheartening,” it said.

Mentioning that many young girls and boys were caught using illegal drugs, the NSCN (IM) said the office of the UT will take stringent action against the defaulters.
