Governor advocates cultural exchange to strengthen unity
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, has insisted on exposure to the cultures, traditions and practices of different states and union territories (UT) to enhance understanding and bonding between the states thereby strengthening the unity and integrity of India through the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’
The governor stated this during a foundation day celebration of the Union Territory of Ladakh held at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Tuesday. An update from the Raj Bhavan stated that delegates from Ladakh, NEZCC including cultural troupes from Nagaland and Assam, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan attended the programme held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao hall.
The governor expressed his happiness to the delegates from Ladakh, who had come to attend the union territory of Ladakh foundation day at Raj Bhavan in Kohima. He also reminded that unity in diversity is strength.
Speaking at the programme, the governor has lauded the courage and wisdom of the people of Ladakh saying that Ladakhis are known for their stoic resilience and patriotic spirit. He added that the people of Ladakh have contributed immensely to the cultural richness and diversity of India.
On the occasion, the youth from Ladakh performed folk music, Ladakhi folk song and Jabro folk dance. Besides, cultural troupes of Nagajori Sanskritik Assam, Khiamniungan cultural club Kohima and Supen Thera cultural group Kohima also showcased various dances.
An update from Raj Bhavan stated that a youth ambassador from Ladakh, Stanzin Standin, has briefed the gathering on the history of Ladakh towards the paths of development and prosperity. He stated that PM Narendra Modi desired Ladakh to achieve a zero carbon footprint- a narrative that resonates with the core ethos of Ladakh culture.
He also mentioned that Lt. Governor of UT of Ladakh, Brigadier (Redt.) Dr. BN Mishra is leading Ladakh from the forefront with dedication and commitment.
The secretary to the Governor, Rajesh Soundararajan, welcomed the gathering, while the vote of thanks was pronounced by the joint secretary to the Governor, Mhomo Tungoe.
