DIMAPUR — Menuse-O Max Khieya, a Kohima-based correspondent of Eastern Mirror, from Nagaland was among the 40 journalists who participated at the three-day defence correspondents’ workshop held at Eastern Command headquarters in Kolkata from September 11 to the 13th.
The three-day workshop was organised by Press Club Kolkata, in collaboration with Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, with one-day familiarisation of each of the tri-services.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Chief of Staff, Eastern Command, Lt. Gen. RC Srikanth. In his inaugural address, the chief of staff highlighted the role of free media and called for accurate and responsible journalism in general and in matters of defence forces in particular.
An update from Press Club Kolkata stated that the journalists were given an exposure to the organisational set up, different branches, formations, and other relevant issues of the tri-services so as to enable the journalists to report the armed forces with proper dimension.
The workshop, which was organised by Press Club Kolkata after almost two decades, concluded on September 13.
