Speaking at the inaugural programme, Tunyi said that philatelic is not only collecting stamps but it helps in preserving and sharing stories with the generation. While lauding the department of India Post for their efforts in serving the people, he wished them to continue the good services with dedication.

He also wished the participants and students to give their best and avail the facilities in knowing the importance and services provided through India Post. He further called upon all the participants to give their best effort in making the programme a success.

Kamei briefed the congregation about how postal came to be used and how stamp collection became important to the people. He said that stamp collections are like a window to the world for the younger generation as every country has its own stamps and usages and acts as a source of information.

He informed that 70 new branch offices would be shortly opened in Nagaland where Wokha district would receive a new postal office. He informed that the office would cover all sectors including financial services.

Kamei informed that to reduce problems related to customs duty, the state has five centres in Kohima, Jaluki, Phek, Dimapur and Mokokchung where people can easily transact import and export internationally. He added that Wokha district will have the facilities in a few months that would benefit the community.

He also urged the staff of Wokha post office to make the DCDP campaign a success by educating and bringing more awareness of the benefits provided by the department.

Six schools namely Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Regimental School, Isaiah Ability School, Fernbrook School, Little Angel School and Government Higher Secondary School were awarded certificates for setting up a philatelic club in their respective schools.

It may be mentioned that the India Post provides scholarships to students through Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana for students studying in classes 7 to 9 with good academic records and also to philatelic clubs.

Som Kamei and Nuhutu Tunyi unveiled the exhibition hall of stamp design contest, letter writing competition and exhibition of philatelic collections.
