DIMAPUR—, Aug. 6 (EMN): The United Naga Council (UNC) has decided to organise a mass rally on August 9 from 10 am onwards in all the Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur, particularly at Tamenglong, Chandel, Ukhrul and Senapati headquarters.
“As you are aware, the Indo-Naga peace process has made significant progress with the signing of the historic Framework Agreement between the government of India and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) on August 3, 2015. However, the inordinate delay in signing the final agreement is a cause for concern and has the potential to derail the peace negotiation,” a UNC statement issued by its publicity wing stated.
The mass rally has been proposed to register collective sentiment to the government of India for exercising political-will to hammer out an early negotiated solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue in the spirit of Framework Agreement and to usher in enduring peace in the Naga areas and the Northeast.
UNC has, therefore, requested all conscientious Naga citizens as stakeholders and well-wishers to extend utmost cooperation and participate in the proposed rally prayerfully.
