PM Modi’s radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ completes 100 episodes

DIMAPUR — Marking the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Governor of Nagaland La. Ganesan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted the radio programme every month with the objective of establishing a dialogue with citizens of the country on issues of day-to-day governance.

It also aims to convey Modi’s voice and ideas to the general masses, he said, speaking at a special screening of the 100th episode at Raj Bhavan Kohima.

He said Modi’s people-centric approach to development and continuous effort to connect with the common men led to this programme.

Ganesan said the essence and conduct of Mann Ki Baat reflects the cultural ethos and heritage of the country and therefore resonates well with the public. He said the programme reaches out to a wide spectrum of socially, economically and culturally diverse people and it inspires them to think about various current social, economic, cultural, environmental and other issues facing India and the world, according to a PIB update.

He observed that every month, millions of letters are received by the Prime Minister from across the nation, containing the “hopes, aspirations and dreams as well as the advice of the people”.

Speaking about the telephonic conversation the Prime Minister conducts during the programme, the Governor cited an example of an NCC cadet from Nagaland who got the opportunity to interact with the prime minister.

He went on to state that the Mann Ki Baat programme highlighted inspiring stories of change-makers even from the remote corners of India, “working relentlessly and selflessly, who are otherwise left out by the mainstream media”.

In this, he said, “our very own group from Kohima Village, the Lidi Kro-u society, which has been working tirelessly for the preservation and propagation of the Naga arts and crafts, also found its pride in one of the episodes in the programme”.

With the Mann Ki Baat programme, Modi has successfully established a mechanism to take welfare schemes and policies to the people and generate awareness about them. He said during the COVID-19 crisis, Prime Minister Modi used the platform extensively to educate the people about the disease and its mitigation and also to motivate people to get vaccinated, it said.

Special guests of the event in Nagaland included Advisor of Information and Public Relations, Imkong L Imchen as chief guest, Padma awardees from Nagaland, Moa Subong and Neihunuo Sorhie; along with personalities mentioned by Prime Minister Modi in his Mann Ki Baat speeches.

Doordarshan Kendra Kohima and All India Radio Kohima broadcast the event live, while the state Department of Information and Public Relation webcast it on YouTube.

The Central Bureau of Communication, Kohima put up a mini photo exhibition showcasing the photographs and stories of change-makers mentioned by the Prime Minister. In the absence of Governor La. Ganesan, his message was read out by Secretary to the Governor, Rajesh Soundararajan, it added.

The first episode of Mann Ki Baat was aired on October 3, 2014, a Friday. In recent years, however, the address has been broadcast at 11 am on the last Sunday of each month. Accordingly, the previous edition aired on March 26.
