DIMAPUR — Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has detected numerous anomalies in government schools within Peren district which has hampered proper functioning due to prevalence of proxy teaching, lack of head teacher, inadequate subject teachers and basic infrastructures.
The union detected those anomalies during its recent educational tour to all the government high schools (GHS) and government higher secondary schools (GHSS) on the theme ‘Redefining responsibilities.’
An update from the union stated that its officials had interacted with the concerned department officials, school management, teaching faculty and students during the tour.
While affirming to abolish the practice of proxy teaching within the district, the union informed the government teachers, who are unable to perform their duties, to voluntarily retire to pave way for thousands of aspiring unemployed youth. The union also warned to execute its own course of action against those teachers who fails to comply with its directive.
The union observed that many schools were found functioning without head teachers, assistant headmaster, language teacher, office assistant (UDA/LDA), computer assistant, peon, chowkidar. It also observed that the schools have been functioning for years without subject teachers for Mathematics, Science and Hindi.
In this regard, the union has demanded that the concerned authority to provide those facilities at the earliest for the benefit of student community. Further, the union appealed to all the organisations to collectively shoulder the responsibilities in moulding the students.
